While the Kingdom boasts a tempting selection of internationally acclaimed dining experiences, the true essence of Saudi's culture lies in its diverse array of delicious local dishes, rich in flavour and tradition.

In January, the Kingdom's Culinary Arts Commission revealed the nation's thirteen signature dishes, inviting visitors and residents alike to indulge and celebrate the diversity and cultural richness of the nation's provinces.

And in January of 2023, the Culinary Arts Commission declared that the Kingdom's overall national dish was to be Jareesh: a savoury porridge dish made using wheat or bulgar that is usually seasoned and served with meat, and the official national dessert was to be Maqshush: a sweet dish typically served for breakfast made with wheat flour, ghee and topped with honey or sugar.

With this in mind, Riyadh's Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah is introducing an exciting new dining experience.

The '13 Regions Brunch' at La Brasserie will celebrate the diverse culinary heritage of the Kingdom, offering guests a journey through the thirteen provinces, with a meticulously created menu which reflects the cultural and historical significance of each dish.

Diners can expect various traditional dishes such as Riyadh's Margoog to the Eastern region's Hasawi Rice and Jazan's Samak Mkashan, every bite tells a story. Guests are welcomed with a refreshing drink of Zamzam Water with Taif Rose from Mecca, followed by a selection of sweet delights including Ajwa Date Cake and Kleeja.

Live Arabic music and entertainment will accompany the wide variety of traditional national dishes, making for the ultimate immersive brunch experience.

This new culinary venture is inspired by the announcement of the national dishes of the Kingdom earlier this year, alongside the vision of Her Royal Highness Princess Noura Al Faisal, who integrated the 13 provinces into Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah, Riyadh's signature fan. The design, comprising 13 blades, pays homage to Saudi Arabia's diverse landscape, while incorporating aesthetic references and local materials that represent its rich history and promising future.

Of course, there will also be a selection of international dishes for those hoping to expand their palate beyond Saudi, and a dedicated children's menu will also be available.
