What is this weekend's fight night called?

As part of the extended Riyadh Season sporting calendar, this weekend will see the event know as 'Undisputed: Ring of Fire' come to life.

Undisputed: Ring of Fire will see the undefeated WBC Heavyweight Champion of the world, Tyson Fury clash against Unified Champion, Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine.

Fury has become a regular name on the Riyadh Season boxing bill, having fought numerous times throughout the Riyadh Season schedule including headlining the inaugural boxing event, the Battle of the Baddest which took place in October 2023. It was during this match where the world watched on as Fury retained his title as the World Boxing Championship Heavyweight champion of the world beating skilled, mixed martial arts expert, Francis Ngannou over ten high energy rounds.

Holding an Olympic gold medal, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk is equally as respected in the world of boxing. Since defeating Anthony Joshua in 2021, the Ukrainian fighter holds several the WBA, WBO, and IBF titles. Usyk successfully defended these titles in a rematch against Joshua last summer in the Kingdom, winning by decision. In October 2023, Usyk once again retained his IBF, WBA and WBO world titles when he knocked out Britain's Daniel Dubois, bringing the fight to a halt in its ninth round. Usyk continues to maintain his undefeated record and now takes on the battle of heavyweight after transitioning from cruiserweight, where he held the title of undisputed and undefeated champion.

Originally scheduled for February 17, Ring of Fire is now set to take place this weekend on Friday May 17 running into Saturday May 18 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. The purpose built, premium sporting stadium boasts an impressive capacity of 26,000, with the nearby Boulevard Hall able to hold additional capacity.

A number of undercard fights will take place over the course of two hours from 6pm on Friday May 17.

Whilst the main event will take place at 1am KSA time, in the early hours of Saturday May 19.

The hotly anticipated heavyweight championship is expected to take place over 12 rounds (or maybe less!).

Slated as the biggest boxing event of 2024 so far, the Ring of Fire will be an intense, championship fight. The title of 'Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion' will be on the line, with both men equally poised to pinch the win.

Fury's WBC title is on the line, alongside Usyk's WBA, IBF and WBO titles.

The title belt was unveiled in late January ahead of the original date. The belt is emblazoned with the words 'Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion'. The belt showcases luxurious mix of gold, red and black leather. Not only is an impressive title on the line, the belt itself is a prize worth having.
