Although the area is more well-known for a swathe of beautiful and aesthetic spa resorts, exclusive escapes and lavish desert campsites, hospitality destination AMAALA in the Red Sea region is set to get a brand new attraction - a survival academy.

TV personality and survival expert Bear Grylls will open his very first 'Survival Academy' in the Kingdom, at ultra-luxury tourism destination, AMAALA.

With the first luxurious destination resorts set to welcome guests later this year, this is just another exciting addition to the new landscape of the Red Sea region.

Construction of the Red Sea International Airport began in 2021, and recently it was confirmed that national airline, Saudia would host the inaugural flights to the brand new airport, in line with opening of the first resorts later this year. The Red Sea International Airport will be located approximately 15 kilometres from the majority of luxury resorts along the Red Sea coast.

The ideal challenge for any outdoor enthusiasts who are up for a challenge. Academy attendees will embark on a journey to acquire essential skills in team building, wilderness education, and survival. These courses have been meticulously crafted by the renowned British adventurer and television presenter, Bear Grylls, and will offer a diverse range of options.

The Bear Grylls' Survival Academy will also host a number of indoor, team building activities and course that are ideal for work retreats and team-building experiences - especially for those who don't fancy being out in the heat of the desert landscape.

In both indoor and outdoor activities, participants can expect to be immersed in a transformative learning experience under Grylls' guidance, making these adventures truly unique and educational endeavours.

John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global, noted, “We believe that everyone should have the chance to follow their sense of adventure and will work with the Bear Grylls Survival Academy team to develop outdoor experiences for all, whether adults or young people, irrespective of physical and cognitive ability.”

Fully supportive of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the Bear Grylls Survival Academy aims to employ local guides and outdoor enthusiasts, providing training in survival skills, leadership and guiding a group through training courses.

AMAALA is set to open to visitors in early 2025.
