Green Riyadh: Al-Urubah Park will feature a skyline panoramic walkway

The park is part of the Green Riyadh project aiming to transform the capital into one of the most sustainable and green cities in the world

In July 2023, it was announced that more than 180,000 square metres of green parklands will be made accessible to local residents in Riyadh. And Al Ourouba Park is just one of these projects.

Construction of Al-Urubah Park (also known as Al-Ourouba Park) began in March 2024 as part of the Green Riyadh project.

The Green Riyadh project aims to improve quality of life for local residents in Riyadh, providing large, public green spaces and recreational places and play areas for children. By mitigating dust and pollution, introducing oxygen producing plants, the greening project aims to plays a significant role in both cooling the city and improving air quality, whilst offering recreational facilities and greenspaces to residents.


About Al-Urubah Park

Supporting the Green Riyadh initiative, the Al-Urubah Park is set to be one of the capital city's largest parks, with an estimated area of 754,000 square metres. And, more than 600,000 trees and shrubs will be planted throughout the expansive city centre park land.

Where is the park located?

Construction for the park began in March, at the intersection of Prince Turki Bin Abdulaziz Al Awwal Road and Al-Urubah Road, in the Al-Rahmaniyah neighbourhood of Riyadh. This central location will make the park easily accessible for residents, from all parts of the city. Public buses will also allow for quick and easy access to the park for visitors.

Unique Features of Al-Urubah Park

The park will features a panoramic walking path: spanning 3 kilometres, it will sit 12 metres above ground and allow visitors to take in the expansive views of the city. With ample space and additional walking paths around the edges of the park, measuring 14km in length, the Al-Urubah Park will be the ideal location for residents to enjoy good weather and get some exercise.

Beyond green space, the park will boast a number of stages and theatres for musical performances, alongside various sporting facilities such as tennis and basketball courts.

Embracing the local history and culture of the area, the park will encompass the King Khalid Palace. A historical site, the palace will undergo renovations to make it suitable for tours.
